I don’t really think piercers care that much, it’s just a pet peeve. “Gauge” is a measure of size, not an action or item. I don’t even think I would care if I didn’t have to hear it ten or more times a day. But when people call their jewelry gauges it’s like someone calling their soda “ounces”.
